Chimney Rock Village's Main Street is the real shopping stretch — nine shops packed into a few walkable blocks, from a gem mine and jewelry counter to an old-school general store with modern outfitter gear. Lake Lure itself has less traditional retail, but it makes up for it with Lake Lure Station: one complex housing a candy shop, an axe-throwing venue, and three escape rooms, all under the same family ownership.

About Lake Lure Station

Candy Cabin, Bullseye Axe Throwing Co., and Lake Lure Escape Games aren't three separate stops — they're one venue at 2414 Memorial Hwy, started by Cory and Thomasina Coile after the family relocated to the area. Candy Cabin came first, in June 2024, followed by the escape rooms and then axe throwing. It's a natural pairing for a rainy afternoon or a break between hikes: grab candy, throw a few axes, and book an escape room in the same parking lot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is most of the shopping in Chimney Rock and Lake Lure?
Chimney Rock Village's Main Street has the highest concentration — nine shops within a few walkable blocks, from gem mining to an outfitter's general store. Lake Lure's retail is thinner, but The Hickory Nut (antiques and home décor) and Lake Lure Station (candy, axe throwing, escape rooms) are both worth the stop.
Where are Candy Cabin, the axe throwing, and the escape rooms?
All three share one venue — Lake Lure Station, at 2414 Memorial Hwy in Lake Lure. It's a family-run complex: Candy Cabin (candy store) opened first in June 2024, followed by Lake Lure Escape Games and Bullseye Axe Throwing Co.
Are the axe throwing and escape rooms good for kids?
Lake Lure Escape Games is described as family-friendly with three themed rooms of varying difficulty. Axe throwing venues typically set a minimum age (commonly around 7-10 with adult supervision) — call Bullseye directly to confirm before you plan around it, since we couldn't find a published age policy.
Is Chimney Sweeps on Main Street a shop?
No — it's a chimney-sweep service business, not a retail shop, so we left it off this list even though it's on the same block as the other Main Street storefronts.
