Chimney Rock Runs on Three Sets of Hours — and One of Them Isn't Published

Search for Chimney Rock's hours and you'll usually find one clean schedule. The park actually runs on three, plus holiday exceptions, and the shifts catch people off guard.

Main Season

From March 8 – November 1, the gate opens at 8:30 AM, entry closes at 5:30 PM, and the park itself stays open until 7:00 PM. The gap between those last two is the reason the late-afternoon window works: you can arrive after the entry sign suggests the day is ending and still get a real visit.

Fall and Winter

From November 2 – December 31, everything shifts earlier. Entry closes at 4:30 PM and the park closes at 6:00 PM. The late-afternoon trick still exists, but the whole window slides earlier, and daylight is shorter anyway.

Note where the switch happens. Main season runs through November 1, and the fall and winter schedule begins the next day, so a visit on the first weekend of November is already on the shorter clock.

The Season Nobody Publishes

For January 1 – March 7, the picture is different: Hours for this period are not published at chimneyrockpark.com — call ahead or check the website before visiting.

That is a real gap, not a closure. We have not been able to confirm either way, and we would rather tell you that than guess. If you're planning a winter trip, treat a phone call to the park as a required step.

Holidays

Three holiday dates break the pattern:

  • Thanksgiving Day: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Christmas Eve: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Christmas Day: Closed

The park's source lists those holiday hours as a single range, so it doesn't say whether the end time is the last entry or the full closing. Plan to be inside well before the end time.
