This event has ended. The Town of Lake Lure held its Centennial kickoff celebration — "100 Years of Innovation and Ingenuity" — at Morse Park on September 30, 2026, marking a century since the Lake Lure Dam was built.

The morning included remarks from Town officials and project engineers, a community birthday cake, a display of restored vintage boats from the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, a boat procession from Washburn Marina to the dam, and a christening ceremony for the structure.

This was the opening event of a year-long Centennial calendar the Town has published for 2027, running from the Quest of the White Wolf races in January through Santa on the Chimney in December — including a Town Centennial Ceremony on April 8, 2027, and a Labor Day Weekend Celebration in September 2027.
